"If Only" is a 45 minute presentation where I will walk you through the routine day, in which my first husband, Bill Lambert, made a fatal if only decision. I provide visual and emotional details which allow me to connect and impact my audience members leaving them questioning their own daily choices and the effect those choices have on themselves, their family, friends, and co-workers.
My goal when presenting to an audience is to connect with them emotionally; creating in them a mental and visual image of the day I've walked through almost every day for the last sixteen years of my life. The day my first husband, Bill Lambert, made a fatal if only decision.
Safety is not something that is always at the forefront of our daily thoughts. We get complacent and feel we are immune to accidents. Statements like "We have made it this far." or "It won't happen to me." create in us a false security which leads to careless decisions.
"If Only" seeks to have employees speak up when they face unsafe situations and for employers to embrace and encourage open dialogue, training and action to put safety measures in place.
I believe this personal story about safety resonates with listeners, allowing them to have a reality check and realizing their choices can or cannot result in them going home at the end of their shift, or result in an injury or worse yet result in a fatality. Instilling in them that safety is priority; that wearing their personal protective equipment (PPE) provided to them is a priority, that following the proper procedures is a priority, and that assisting their co-workers with safe choices is a priority. I passionately believe our workforce, our farmers, our family, and our friends need to be trained in safety and making it a priority.
